My work is a balancing act between my drive to make art and my desire to share stories. Rather than create in a single medium, I am constantly working across multiple such as photography, collage, animation, sculpture, and performance. I do not bind myself to anything specific, but problem solve to decide what I can use to most effectively get my point across. My identity growing up as a lower-class Appalachian woman has strengthened this desire for autonomy, as well as given a need to antagonize, with the spirit to embrace it. Through this lens I wish to explore topics such as grief, trauma, food insecurity, and mental health challenges to highlight these larger experienced systematic issues.

        Collage is an essential element to every piece I craft, it is a significant part of the way I compose, create, and categorize my work. This way of making is intuitive for me, highlighting my values of recycling and resourcefulness which further brings in the element of chance. Collage is present in every medium of my work including my video work. The experimentation that comes from this way of playfully making leads to new combinations of subjects, ideas, and perspectives. This way of making helps me tackle harsh topics in good humor so every story is portrayed with empathy in mind
